Today California Votes…Proposition 19…legalise it!

*Proposition 19, also known as the Regulate, Control and Tax Cannabis Act of 2010, is a California ballot proposition which will be on the November 2, 2010 California statewide ballot.

It legalizes various marijuana-related activities, allows local governments to regulate these activities, permits local governments to impose and collect marijuana-related fees and taxes, and authorizes various criminal and civil penalties.

In March 2010, it qualified to be on the November statewide ballot. It requires a simple majority in order to pass, and would take effect the day after the election.

I don’t know what most people make of prop19 – to be honest I don’t know the details and the fine print of it either but I for one am not a pot smoker and I think it should be legalized.

Since when had the criminalization of weed had a positive contribution to society in anyway??

What percentage of over-crowded jails are filled with people busted for weed? let these people out to make room for REAL public threats.

More people die from alcohol than pot.

People do not get high and look for a fight. They do not smoke some bud and damage property or beat their family.

If more people smoked weed and drank less alcohol the world would be a safer place. Legalise it and tax it.

I’m Dutch and I know that for Holland it has been a good thing to legalize it over criminalizing it.

The bottom line is that the goverments involved need to decide whether they are making more money keeping it illegal or could make more money making it legal – that is the only thing it comes down to. Cold hard cash.

*Legalization of personal marijuana-related activities

Except as permitted under Proposition 215 and SB 420 laws, persons age 21 and older may:

  • possess up to 28.5 grams (1oz) of marijuana for personal consumption.
  • use marijuana in:
    • a non-public place such as a residence
    • a public establishment licensed for on site marijuana consumption.
  • grow marijuana at a private residence in a space of up to 25 square feet (2.3 m2) for personal use.
